About
Nicole Parker is an artist, educator, and grant consultant. She received her BFA from Wayne State University, Detroit, in 1995, and her MFA from The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2002. Nicole currently serves as an Exhibit Coordinator for the City of Austin. Past outreach and community service roles have been Assistant Professor and Gallery Director at Marygrove College, Detroit, Co-founder and Director of Development of the 555 Nonprofit Gallery and Studios, and Culture and Arts Instructor and Artist Residency Project Manager at The George Washington Carver Museum, Cultural and Genealogy Center, Austin.
Nicole is passionate about the importance of the arts in community development and in education as a vehicle for inclusivity, for supporting multiple learning styles, and for social justice. Much of her time as a professional artist is spent promoting and offering support for both emerging and mid-career artists through grant consulting, exhibitions, professional development, and community outreach opportunities.

She has taught digital and traditional photography classes to youth and adults and has taught fabric dyeing, sculpture using recycled materials, and mixed media collage to youth at the Carver Museum.
